My name is Vance Laughlin, I am 20 years old, and I grew up south of Youngstown, Alberta on a mixed farm of crops and cattle. I am attending my third year at Olds College, where I have completed my Agricultural Equipment Technician Diploma, and I am now taking a Post-Diploma Certificate in General Agriculture. Last year I was the treasurer of the Ag Mech Club, and I have been very involved in both club and program activities, and I have enjoyed advocating for the student body throughout my time at Olds College.

I am running for the position of the Director of the School of Skills and Trades. I am running for this position because I have a passion for advocacy and I enjoy speaking up on behalf of a group. Throughout my time in the School of Trades I have become well versed with how things operate within the school, and have built many connections within the school which will help to make me an excellent representative of the School. I believe that the points I have discussed will make me a very valuable asset to the School of Skills and Trades in representing them on the SAOC Board of Directors.
