Student Nutrition Resource
College students undergo an intense nutrition transition. For many, college is their first time living away from home. Students may be grocery shopping or cooking on their own for the first time, on a meal plan, or sharing a kitchen. They often face unique barriers to nutrition due to food environments, living arrangements, and budget constraints. Additionally, common stereotypes, such as “the freshman 15” or “starving student,” often promote, normalize and reinforce these barriers instead of supporting students through this transition.
The habits you develop during these formative years will influence your health for years to come. This resource is designed to support you through this transition and build nutrition knowledge, food skills and healthy habits to support lifelong health.
Nutrition plays a vital role in supporting physical and mental well-being and academic performance. However, many students are unable to attend on-campus programming or presentations due to time constraints, stress, and lecture fatigue. So, the Students’ Association created a resource that students can browse on their own time and in the comfort of their homes. You are not alone: everyone eats, and has had to learn about nutrition and cooking at some point in their lives.
