Farah Basem
Vice President Advocacy
Hi everyone!
My name is Farah Basem, and I’m running for Vice President of Advocacy with the Students’
Association of Olds College.
I am currently a student in the Environmental Science program and have grown to truly value
the close-knit community at Olds College. The campus environment is welcoming, energetic,
and collaborative, and it’s a place where I feel motivated to get involved and give back to the
student body.
I previously served on the SAOC Board and worked as Director of the Werklund School of
Agriculture and Technology starting in October. Through this role, I gained firsthand experience
working with student leaders, listening to student concerns, and contributing to conversations
that impact campus life. These experiences helped me realize how passionate I am about
advocating for students and ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
I chose to run for Vice President of Advocacy because I believe students deserve strong,
approachable representation. Inclusivity, transparency, and open communication are values I
strongly believe in, and I want to help create a space where students feel comfortable sharing
their ideas, concerns, and perspectives without fear of judgment.
I am committed to listening, supporting, and taking action on the issues that matter most to
students. It would be an honour to represent you and work toward a more connected,
supportive, and student-focused campus community.
