Farah Basem

Running for: Director of the Werklund School of Agriculture & Technology

I’d firstly like to introduce myself. My name is Farah Basem, but you can call me Farah. I want everyone here to get to know me on a personal level and to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas with me. I just recently moved here from Egypt as an international student for the Environmental Science Program. From living in the city to now living in a town has been the change I needed. I'm immensely excited to be here among you and start this new chapter of my life.

I'm running for the director of the Werklund School of Agriculture and Technology. Originally, I was apprehensive about running, but I think this is a great opportunity to not only connect with my peers but to create new experiences and share past ones. My main goal is to make certain every student’s voice is heard. I strongly value inclusivity and believe in creating a space where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas, perspectives, and values without fear of judgment.

Looking forward, I aspire to contribute to building a better, more peaceful world, starting right here on campus where collaboration, respect, and openness guide us. The Olds College Campus atmosphere is something I have never experienced before. The positive energy is contagious, and I want to be part of the energy. I would be honoured to represent you, the student body, and ensure that together, we make the Werklund School of Agriculture a supportive and inspiring community for all!
